Create a negative of a plane

Hello from Germany…

I worked with shapr3D since 3 weeks and I love this software… It’s easy to handle on a iPad and easy to use for me. In 3D software iam a beginner…

My problem is, I try to create a negativ shape of a scan.

The shape on the picture is a shield of my bike exhaust. And I want to create a negative of this for my printer, to build the part of carbon fibre.

My first idea was to create a cube, push the shape in it an cut it out. But it’s not so easy :joy:

I hope you understand… and someone can help me…

Greetings Nico

3d scans are a mesh file you will need to convert it to a cad file or only thing you can really do is scale, and boolean.

Look in the forum there are few different methods, one with Freecad and Fusion 360.

Or if you want send me 3d scan, I can convert it for you, I’m testing out a new conversation method.

Hi and welcome,
Can you explain more with a drawing or just arrows and annotations ?

I can try it to explain with a picture. I want to build a imprint from my shield.

I don’t have errors, because I don’t have ideas how i start the project.
Shpr3D says: sheet body can’t selected.

I can send it, if you like. Is it possible to upload the file in the thread?

I think so, but a new user has some limitation, you can try direct message too.

Or Google Drive Share File something like that if you have issues.

Okay… I have a google drive link…

Upload for new users are not possible…

Ok here is a negative version in STL for 3d printing.

Here is the STEP version, but has too much data to open in Shapr3d.

Thank you, for the work…
Can you explain, how? That I can do the nex part by myself?

Here are 2 good tutorial on dealing with 3d scan.

I have been trying to figure out a good workflow for 3d scans, still working on that.

First thing is you want to make sure your model is solid, Shapr as far as I know can’t do that. You need external software like Blender, I been searching through this forum on 3d scans to see how I can add Shapr into the workflow but not much out there other than using 3d Scan STL as reference model to rebuild.

Since you just needed a negative/mold working with mesh tool, like ones mentioned will help you.
