I’m trying to export .DXF’s for upload to SendCutSend-- and when I upload them on their website, the open areas in my design show up randomly as not closed, and therefore the file is not usable for cutting.
The sketch looks fine in Shapr, and all the lines appear to be connected as they should be (I can highlight each area in orange, which i don’t think would be possible if they weren’t closed)
My process in Shapr has been:
- Orient body flat on the X axis, line up with the Shapr origin point
- From the Top View, project the body onto the X axis
- Hide the body and any planes visible
- Export as .dxf
Does anyone have any idea what the problem could be?

Is your DXF exports top down?
Or facing front?
Have you tried top down orientation?
Also try to check your file in another program like Affinity Designer or another 2d CAD program.

yes, top down.
It’s very strange.
I tried exporting a Dxf of another body from the same project and it worked fine. Then I tried a Dxf of a third body, and it was no good when I uploaded it to SCS website for production.
Shapr is reading all the sketches as “closed”, so I can’t even identify where the issue is.
I ended up having to trace over the body manually in sketch mode, rather than using a projection. That worked, but I have dozens of bodies in my project, and if I need to hand trace them all that’s going to be a nightmare. . . .
Projections sometimes do not produce clean sketches, for example if you extruded, revolved it, and cut it to make project sketch. Project can introduce some weird sketch kinks, even if you can select it and looks goods. Also hard to notice from zoomed out, would need to really zoom into the troubled spots and look what the control points are doing and make sure they are not overlapping each other.
But if none of that is the case post the problem DXF or that cross section here, someone can take a look for you.
