Mac > Dragging a text sketch and pressing F before releasing does not result in the letter faces being selected for extrusion as is suggested elsewhere in the forum. Is it possible? A Bug? Am I doing it wrong?
You can try projecting the text to the surface and then extruding. \
Try extruding as a new body and then adding or subtracting from other bodies. It should work.
Either way, the only way to access the faces seems to be click on each one …one …. by … one.
On your screenshot ‘All items’ is selected instead of ‘Faces (F)’.
Thanks, but that’s just the screenshot. Pressing tab a couple of times to move it across to ‘Faces’ does nothing. Thanks for this video though, it’s very helpful in showing that your experience is different to mine. What platform are you on?
When you drag to select, hold mouse button, tab until ‘Faces’ is selected, then release mouse button, you have a selection. I don’t.
I’m on Mac, I’d be interested to see if other Mac users have the same issue.
I’ve just seen there was an update a couple of days ago, and this has fixed the issue. Couldn’t find any mention of it in the release notes, but selection of text is now possible.
Sorry, didn’t read enough. Tab key used to work for me.
I’m also on a Mac. Perhaps that was a bug in the specific version you were using, but for me this kind of selection has always worked in every version I’ve used.
Also, I showed you another way of selection in the video, in case you didn’t notice ![]()
Apologies if I missed the detail. I downloaded the video and tried to carefully follow what you you were doing and thought it was what I had already tried. What was different?
EDIT: Ah! You selected extrude first. Sorry I wasnt expecting that and was watching the wrong part of the screen, I thought you did the same thing twice.
I’m the kind of person who is grateful anyone is trying to help in anyway at all!
