Face not recognised when trying to offset.

Hi All,

I’m trying to use the offset face tool to extend this shape while keeping the existing taper, I’d like to offset it to the construction plane I’ve created. However, the offset face tool doesn’t see this face as a face. Any ideas?

I tried to upload a video but I’m too new :upside_down_face:

Thanks,
Ben

Hi and welcome !
Try to upload a screenshot or shapr file

Hi Ben,

If you are trying to extend a face to a construction plane, try using the Replace Face tool.

Does this help?

You may be selecting a sketch. With the Item sidebar open, you can see the selected item. If it is a sketch, you may need to hide it in order to select the face of a body.

Hi,
I’m not sure I understood but as Bob suggests. Use the tool > Replace Face on 2 bodies

Thanks Jean, as a new user I can’t upload but Bob’s managed to help.

Thanks Bob, yes I was selecting a sketch :man_facepalming:t2:. Someone was showing me around Fusion 360 earlier and how to organise objects as components, not bodies, Is there a similar way to work here so that all my relevant sketches etc are linked to the appropriate part?

By default, your sketches are linked to the body that they make. For instance, after you extrude if you go back to the sketch and modify it, then the body will change.

At this time, there is no “assembly.” This is an often requested feature, but the Shapr3D team has not announced any timeframe when it would be developed.

You can organize your sketches and bodies with folders. This is not automatic, but you can collect the items into a folder to help you organize your work.
