I’ve recently encountered a frustrating issue when creating new sketches, and I’m trying to figure out if this is a new feature or a bug.
The Issue:
When I offset a box and then attempt to expand the drawing to connect to another box, the system unexpectedly generates a separate face rather than merging it with the existing surface. This causes a lot of problems because:
-
Face Duplication: The offset operation creates a new face that doesn’t seamlessly integrate with the original geometry.
-
Geometry Disruption: Instead of extending the existing plane, the system treats the offset as a completely new and independent face.
-
Selection Challenges: Selecting surfaces becomes incredibly difficult unless I manually name each face, which is impractical for complex models.
-
Workflow Impact: This issue has increased my sketch time by about 4x, making the process much more frustrating than it used to be.
Why It’s a Problem:
Once I’ve finalized my model, I don’t want to worry about selecting every individual face. Most of them don’t matter in the long run, and the current behavior just makes things unnecessarily complicated.
I’ve recorded a video of the issue and reviewed it several times, but I’m still not sure if this is an intentional change or an unintended consequence of a recent update. If it’s a new feature, it’s definitely making sketching a lot harder and less efficient.
Feedback:
I really appreciate the improvements you guys have made recently, but some of the updates over the past few months have made things more frustrating rather than easier. If anyone has insights or workarounds, I’d really appreciate the help!
Thanks in advance!
