I have been using the trial version of Shapr3d for a couple of weeks now and so far I am very impressed. I’m looking at buying the full version but there are a couple of issues to do with file import and export. I am heavily invested in sketchup formats and I would be very reluctant to completely discard the significant amount of work I have in this system. Furthermore it looks to me as though Shapr will not do everything I want and I will still need to transfer back to sketchup for various processes.
Looking at the Shapr3d site, it looks as though the only compatible format is DXF, but this appears not compatible as, if I interpret things correctly, Shapr does not support 3D DXF, can this be right?? I understand that DXF can be a problematic format, but is been around since the days of steam powered computers and it is still commonly used in many areas.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Murray
Hi, welcome to the forum.
That is true, Shapr3D only supports DXF and DWG if they contain planar curves only. With these file formats, we are focusing on technical documentation in a regular way.
Please give transferring your files a try in STL or OBJ mesh file formats.
