Having the copy and past feature is really a huge plus. This makes a lot of things a lot easier. So I gave it a try right away and it is working, but I have some graphical artefacts - see Screenshot.

Yes, overlapping planar faces have some issues. Actually this problem is present since the beginning, it was just not visible, because we did not have copy, thus it was quite rare to have overlapping planar faces with different colors.
Good to know. But Copying an object is working well and I am sure you can eliminate those artefacts somehow.
