How can i create a tapered/conical helix

Ive been using shapr3d for about 6 months now and there is still so much i don’t know(as proven here :joy:). However i have been recently making something for my local nursing home to help the elderly, and i need some sort of tube type shape (helix) that spirals down at the angle of the bucket(shown in picture below) but not straight down. hopefully someone can help me here cause i can’t.

the picture provided is of the actual object i am designing(the bucket), aswell as the circle that im trying to extrude. also included is the helix that the circle creates after being revolved around the axis in the center of the bucket.(you can see how it sticks out almost all the way down because it isnt tapered or angled at all)

unfortunately i just made a account on the community and i cant add more than one image per topic :upside_down_face:

Hi @Tanner

Welcome to the forum.
The solution to your problem has been discussed several times and is not obvious at first. I do not take the credit for this, but I cannot remember who shared it for the first time.
The point is to sweep the circle along the edge of a body specially created for this purpose by intersecting an helix with a cone.

The video shows it all.
Hope it helps :grinning:

Hi @Robert
It is indeed what I was remembering but I was not able to put the hand on it!

It opened to me new horizons because before I read your post, I was not aware that body’s edges could be used as guides.

(I can’t edit my previous post to give you the credit you deserve  because it is marked as solution)

It’s also useful for making some difficult sketches, like a spiral
Just use the project tool :ok_hand:t2:

How did you make the initial spiral?
