Hello I’ve made a model and I would like to convert it into slices for laser cutting. How do I achieve that? For simple shapes like box, I projected it onto a plane. What about about a curved dome like structure?
The laser isn’t the correct tool for this. You don’t have enough control of cutting depth. You should use CNC. Fusion 360 can generate tookpaths for CNC.
In addition to what Alan states, if I’m going to fabricate a 3D object out of wood or something else, I would use Aspire, by Vectric.
While I may choose to create the 3D object in Shapr3D, Aspire has the feature of creating the slices needed for objects with an undercut. If there’s no undercut, I would just carve it without the slices.
Thanks for reply. Yes, I meant CNC. Is there any free software to create tool paths?
Fusion 360 has a free hobbyist license. You can do most things with it except use the rotary module. You do need to install some software tool plugins to get Fusion 360 to generate Snapmaker-compatible G-code.
