I am very new to CAD, coming from a world of vector graphics using a CO2. I am wondering how I can take a svg vector silhouette image of a car and convert it into a usable file in shapr3d? The attached svg is what I am trying to import into shapr3d and then create an offset outline around that off of the current profile of the car design. Any suggestions?
In my limited experience, I have found using a drawing application to edit the SVG is your best bet. Drawing in Shapr3D is maybe not impossible but it sure isn’t as easy as using a vector drawing program. If I am grasping the principle correct you also need to create an illustration that is just lines, no fills or other effects. I had found this tutorial to be a decent start on making the image into a vector and then importing it into Shapr3D. The illustration program she uses (Affinity) is free, at least for now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPB6Lm24tL0
Hope this helps!
Or try using one of the online converters. You need to convert the SVG to a DXF, which can then be imported as a sketch in Shapr3D.
What computer platform are you using? On my Windows PC I would open the SVG in Corel Draw and export as DXF. Inkcsape (free) or Illustrator would also work.
Here try importing this to Shapr
