Hello, I have been using Shapr3D for just over a month, and while there are several features I would love to see implemented, this one seems like it would be relatively easy to implement and would save people time with sketching shapes:
Problem
When you sketch a shape, you need to drag it to the size you want. This isn’t very precise, and when you have to sketch many different simple shapes, then manually adjust dimensions one at a time, it slows down your work flow.
Outcome
With the ability to instantly input dimensions into a dialogue box, you can precisely generate a sketch that centers itself on a point with the exact dimensions you need. Once the shape is generated, it is automatically selected and is moveable so that you can immediately adjust it’s position as needed.
Process would be:
-
Select the shape from the tool bar.
-
Click on a point.
-
Dialogue box appears with input fields for dimensions:
-
Input dims and click OK. Shape is generated centered on the point that you initially selected.
Note that the shape, once generated, is instantly selected and moveable.
This would speed up the shape generating / tweaking process when precise measurements are required.
What is is that you can’t achieve without this feature?
Generating multiple shapes of various sizes with precision is slow and tedious.
EDIT: To help streamline on tablets, you can use wheel based number selectors that can be adjusted with a pen as opposed to having to type each dimension in.
