Is there a way to use the measuring tool the old way. I normally keep the measuring tool open when i am working, but now i cannot make changes while the tool is open. This change is making it harder and longer for me to work.
Is there a setting somewhere that allows me to continue working while the tool is open?
I don’t understand. When a new feature is presented, why can’t it be a settings change so that people like myself can choose how they want to use the program.
There was nothing wrong with the old way….and i pay $300 / year for this program.
Have you tried pinning the measurements and keeping the “Show pinned measurements” on?
This way, you can see the measurements while continuing to model. The pinned measurements will also stay saved when you exit the design and when you export to .shapr file format
Yes, there is a way to keep the measuring tool open while continuing to work. In SOLIDWORKS 2019 and later, the Measure tool can remain on screen across different environments—parts, assemblies, and drawings. If it interferes with selection, just right-click and choose ‘Select’ to deactivate it temporarily without closing the window.
For other platforms like Bentley View, you can dock the Tool Settings window or adjust its transparency to avoid obstruction.
Let me know which software you’re using, and I can give you exact steps.
