MOVE handler always in the near area on the mid of the screen

NOW:

  • You are in sketch mode
  • You have a complex series of shapes (e.g. circles, box, lines) with constrains.
  • You need to move to a very precise position based on a small shape.
  • You zoom in (e.g. 0.2 mm grid)
  • You select a zoomed visible part (in the zoomed screen) of the complex series
  • You click on MOVE/COPY

image

  • You are lost: the move handler with arrows is not on screen any more (is out), and you can’t do any precise move, neither the handle can be moved in a visible part of the screen. No way to move precisely.

In reality the move handle appears in a screen position that is out of the offset of the zoomed part of the screen. You need to zoom out to see it and move it. But if you zoom out, you do not see any more the micro details for alignment, that you can see only in high zoom mode.

NEW FEATURE:
The move/copy handle should appear in the appropriate position but INSIDE THE ZOOM SCREEN VIEWPORT.

The problem that this feature will solve:

With this feature will be possible to move and align objects accurately with micro movements in high zoom in a way similar to CAD competitors.

When you zoom out, you can grab the move gizmo and move it to where you want it to be before you zoom back in on that area. It might not be ideal for you but its a workaround.

Agreed. Yes, you can move the gizmo, but this is quite tedious when zooming in very far. Even if I move the gizmo close to the area I’m about to zoom in to, when zooming the gizmo again is outside my screen. It needs to be moved repeatedly closer to the area I’m zooming in to, sometimes 5+ times, before I’m zoomed in enough AND the gizmo is still on-screen.

It would be really handy if there were a hotkey for moving the gizmo to the cursor. That way no matter how you move around or how far out/in you’re zoomed in, if an object is selected, you can hit “g g” (or some other hotkey) to move the gizmo instantly to your cursor location.

And to be honest, a lot of my personal struggles with the gizmo placement would be irrelevant if we could snap faces and vertices to other faces and vertices, but I realize that’s going to be much harder/time-consuming for the devs than adding a hotkey feature for the gizmo.
