Move/rotate

Hello,

I’m a total Newbie to Shapr3D with minimal experience with Alibre.

I’ve tried to find the answer to this question by watching videos and reading the command references, but it eludes me how one is supposed to use the History panel to edit a MOVE/ROTATE, and specifically when it comes to the distance and direction that the body was moved. Of the five parameters that appear in the MOVEMENT/ROTATION command within the History panel, the only one that makes sense to me is COPY.

Adjusting any of the remaining parameters appears to break something that requires deletion and re-execution of the command.

For example, lets say I MOVE/ROTATE a part some distance, but later decide that distance needs to be some different value. How would I use the History panel to change the value?

Can you please point me to where I can find a more complete answer to this?

Thank you in advance.

Are you setting a break point for the object first in history for what you want to move?

You can change the value but unfortunately you have to remember last entered one.

Thank you Xdrakosha.

I have not been, but I will play with this and see if I get a better understanding of this0.

What I was hoping for is to understand how to better utilize the parameters that appear in this history panel under Movement/Rotation – specifically, how does one manipulate Start Center, Target Bodies, Target Faces, and Target Edges without breaking the command?

If you can point me to where these parameters are explained in more detail with respect to the MOVE/ROTATE than they are in the command reference, that would help, I think.

Thanks again!

Start center is the point you’ve chosen when moving gizmo before start using move/rotate tool:

Target body used to select the body you planning to move/rotate.

Target face is used then you rotating only faces:

Target edges used then you move/rotate only edges:

If you select an item you want to affect, you’ll see the history bar bring you to that relevant entry. The fly down should bring up the relevant steps to create it. Move should be there if you moved it. Select then set a break point using the “…” Then try to edit the operation.

Thank you Alex. I will need to play with these parameters some more to get fully comfortable with them, but this helps a lot!

IMHO, you should avoid using move/rotate tool as long as possible

What tools do you use? Align?

Align, Translate, Rotate around axis. And of course correct modeling from the beginning
