Need help with cutting a hatch from a cylinder

Hi. I 'm looking to get some help with cutting a shape that I projected onto a cylinder. Basically I’ve created a cylinder that’s 28mm in diameter and projected a vertical rectangle onto it. What I want to do is cut a door or hatch from the cylinder, that I can snap into place. So in the screenshot below, the highlighted section is what I want to remove from the cylinder, but I want to keep that shape to use to cover the area that was removed. I hope I’m making sense. Thanks!

Here’s an alternate method using the Project tool. I purposely made the door thick to highlight the sides that are angled normal to the center of the cylinder. Alex’s method is fine for a door that moves straight in for a snap fit whereas mine does not. The difference is, mine can be hinged to one side if desired. Now you have two methods that work per your initial request.

@Xdrakosha @TigerMike Thank you both so very much!!! This is exactly what I was looking to do. I really appreciate both of you taking the time to help me with this.:raising_hands:
