“Sketches with locked points cannot be moved” is an unhelpful statement. If it were followed by “Highlight locked points?” or “Unlock locked points” followed by a Yes/No box, then I would be a lot less frustrated.
There seems to be so many ‘You can’t do that’ remarks. Working with Shapr3D would be so much more pleasant if it could tell you the right way to achieve what it can clearly see you are trying to do.
Another recommendation, on the desktop when you click on the locked point, it turns orange and you get the Locked or Unlocked Badge icon.
On 4k monitor the badges once selected are both orange and badges being so small I can’t tell if its unlocked or locked, I would recommend a text label or make those badges bit bigger.
Also never been fan of those locked badges, or maybe the badges could have a red background to signify that its locked.
Yes, I agree. Wherever shapr3d prevents you from performing an operation it should clearly SHOW you why. This would serve 2 purposes :
you can easily see how to fix the problem
now you know the type of problem so that you can avoid it in the future
Also, I agree with the lock icon. It is not clear enough on high resolution (or with degrading eyesight). I’m hesitant to say it should be larger b/c constraints clutter the view. A red background vs white or transparent background may work.
Also to clarify, these type of icons, you can improve its accessibility by giving a secondary cue like colored background.
First time user could assume Locked Badge means either Locked or Unlocked (basically a toggle), without secondary cues or more clearer use of icon it can mean both ways which is why toggles usually looks like this.
I have to say, it infuriates me when I can’t move a sketch and I am left wondering WHY I can’t move it.
Shapr3d should NEVER get in the way of a user trying to design something.
If what I want to do will result in errors or whatever, then fine, have a pop-up warning message to advise me, but then the user should be able to click out of that and continue with moving the sketch. If I end up with errors or an unprintable shape, then that’s on ME because I was warned.
But I am frankly so tired of the Shapr app telling me it won’t do something that I need it to do.
Does a hammer ever say “I’m not hitting that nail”?
Does a screwdriver ever say “hey, that screw head is stripped, I’m not willing to try tightening it”
