Pre-Select Export Format

The problem that this feature will solve:

Exporting from Shapr3D is quite a number of clicks, especially if you make mistakes like myself. I mostly export to jump into my Slicer for 3D Printing.

I currently launch the Export Dialog by using the keyboard shortcut. I have already added the 3MF file format as a favorite to keep it at the top, but I noticed that the launches without a selection

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

A very simple feature (I suppose its just a couple lines of code) would be to just select the first item in the list by default or restore the previous selection.

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

Being quicker

If I understand the Q correctly…

I set Favorit Format (starred) to STL and then by some third part (for example, Keyboard Maestro) assign a shortcut to Export to > Quick Export to Favorite Formats (to do several fast tests when merging complex items).

So, just one single com-n (or even a single n) and the export ‘Save as’ open.

Hi,
1 • Choose 3MF or another to Favorites
2 • Quick Export to Favorite formats (sorry: No shortcut planned for that)

Thanks jean, and BKE,

that’s very helpful to know!

Would be super cool if there was a shortcut or this option was available via the search command palette.

The quick export option is actually just as … quick… as the normal one as you need to go to File → Export to → Quick export instead of just pressing cmd+shift+e and clicking once.

I found out I can just do cmd+shift+e → tab → tab → enter, which feels quite fast..

I proposed this as I don’t see the benefit of the empty screen in the dialog, I think even a first-time user would understand the list and selection. And as a repeat user you can then just do cmd+shift+e → enter

What is annoying for me is if I have multiple file formats in my favorites, it won’t ask me which one I want but export to all of them in a compressed folder. Very unnecessary in my opinion.

Since BKE mentioned Keyboard Meastro, it’s one of my FAV app. I highly recommend it.

For me I have F12 and it exports to STL.

I have a PC Gaming Mouse with a numpad on the side that has 12 numbered buttons, it’s reprogrammed to F1 to F12 so when I hit 12 it exports.

And for Jean KM can generate RANDOM() and insert it into Shapr.
