Reverse engineering an organic Body

Hello everyone,

I have now gained some experience with Shapr and am loving it more and more every day.

However, I am reaching my limits with my current project because it has a rather organic shape. I am attaching some photos of the original.

I started by transferring this from the original onto a sheet of paper and then digitally transferring it into my Shapr project, where I traced the shape.

What would be the best way to proceed now?

Thanks in advance for your help!
Marc

Experience tells us that sometimes we need more than one tool in our box. Shapr may not be the best fit for this type of organic modeling. Not saying it cannot be done.

To better help you, sketches or pics from multiple sides would be beneficial.

I might visualize and sketch elements of the body at cross sections onto construction planes and then loft them. Maybe lofting with guides.

It’s doable. Shapr does not bend or fold things at all because it works mostly in planar sketches.

Take your initial shape for example. I might draw vertical spaced lines to attach planes to. Then sketch the cross sections on them. This image should help convey my method.

The more cross sections the better depending on the complexity of the shape. Other features can be added later and blended with e.g. fillet tool. Like the knob-like protrusion on top of your example.
