Shapr3D closes my file if I go to a different iPad app for a few minutes

I’m using the iPad version of Shapr. When I go to a different app for awhile (as little as a few minutes) and come back to Shapr, I find that Shapr has close my file, and I have to open it again. These are large files and take an inconveniently long time to open. Shapr hasn’t crashed, it’s just closed my file and gone back to show my library with Recent Projects, etc.

Why does Shapr do that now? It didn’t used to.

If I’m on a zoom call, with clients watching, and (for example) I navigate to a reference picture in the Photos app, and maybe a web site like McMaster Carr, then I come back to Shapr… everyone has to wait while I re-open the file.

This is entirely impractical.

It costs me unnecessary time throughout the day as this happens over and over.

I’ve been putting up with it for a couple of months at least and I really need it to stop doing that now.

I would have guessed because of memory allocation. If you’re using a lot of memory in different apps, iOS will close apps in the background.

Try the same thing but with a small file. If it doesn’t close the file, then it’s lack of memory. Old iPad?

It’s a 13 inch iPad Pro M4 512Gb with 8Gb of RAM.

I’ll see if I can replicate it with smaller files.

Same here. I thought the iPad would background the app but not close it but maybe this is memory dependent. It is a pain when you work with large files.
