Sketch wrap to body

Hello!

I have to make a chess piece with unique pattern on the side, but i cant use the project tool because the body is curved and the pattern on the body will be distorted. Any idea how can I make it?

Search this forum for wrapping text around cylinder. Same principle might apply. Else export the model to a different program and UV map it.
