Sketches disappear and delayed response

  1. Sketches disappear when I create a body out of just part of the sketch, so creating multiple bodies from one sketch is impossible without going to the menu on the left to try to turn the sketch back on. Can this feature be turned off? I don’t want my sketch to ever disappear.

  2. When I tapped the plane the sketch was on it was always active (can see points, can draw) and now when I do that it stays grey, until, again, I go over to the left menu, try to randomly click on sketches and find the one it is, and then select it. Then I can sometimes draw on the sketch, but then it will be greyed out again if I do something else and go back. I want to be able to tap the plane and then work on the sketch right away.

  3. I actually bought a new iPad Pro 12.9 because I thought I needed a faster processor but I think there’s just some major glitch going on where sometimes, randomly (and it’s not just bigger files or complex operations) the Apple Pencil stops responding making it almost impossible to draw.

I need this for work and I don’t have an alternative. Is there a way to go back to the previous version (probably not) or any hope that these things will be fixed?

Thanks

Recently we’ve changed this behavior and with the next release sketches will only disappear if the subsequent 3D operation fully consumes them.

Can you share a video?

Can you share a specific workflow or design that is slow?

I haven’t had that happen yet today but when I can I’ll take a video. I think it might happen after a period of time? It seems to help if I only work for a short time. But that’s obviously not going to work too well!

Here’s the video of me struggling to get a sketch to be active…

Now multiple sketches can be on a single plane. Click on Exit Sketching, then select the sketch that you want to edit.

Ok it’s really really disruptive to me to have to go select the sketch on the left. I can’t work fast and do that. Is there any possibility of being able to turn off the multiple sketches on one plane and go back to just tapping the plane and the sketch will be available to work on? This is going to make a 15 min job like 20 or 25 min. It’s just going to add so much time to have to always go back to the menu. And would it be possible to also turn off the feature where sketches disappear? I don’t want them to do that ever for any reason.

Like when I create a plane could there be an option for multiple vs single sketches?

You don’t have to. Just use the Pencil to select the sketch that you want to edit.

No that isn’t working. You can’t see from the video but I try to select lines in the sketch and they are still not active. It’s not possible to add to that sketch. If I do, it’s a separate sketch and not part of the one I want to add to.

I need a merge sketches feature at least. If I return to work on a sketch on a plane it creates a whole new sketch so I’d end up with like 55 if I went back and forth

You need to exit the current sketch first. Then use the Pencil to select the sketch that you want to edit. That will activate that sketch, and you can edit it.

But I can’t tap on the plane to activate the sketch right? You’re saying I need to find it in the menu? And that’s hard when I have multiple ones because it created a new one

No. You don’t need to find it in the menu.

  1. Exit the sketch
  2. Use the Pencil to click on the line or the circle or any other sketch element.
  3. That will activate the sketch.
  4. You can edit it.

Yeah that doesn’t work. I can try to take a video but you can’t see what I’m doing with the pencil.

You can turn on to show the pencil and the taps under Settings.

Ok clicking on exit sketch and then clicking on a line does work, but it’s an extra step when before I could stay in sketch the whole time and go between sketches. And each plane was a sketch so I could just tap the plane to be able to draw on it. It’s a lot slower now.

I’m trying to figure out how to show that in a screen recording. There’s no way to go back to the previous version right?

Oh and the other thing is the mirror function isn’t working. It will sometimes work and sometimes not and I can’t figure out why but maybe it’s because I drew the line to do the mirror later, and the program thinks it’s not the same sketch? It just takes a lot of random clicking to try to get to the right sketch when before all I did was tap the plane. Now I can never get it to be all one sketch so I can use mirror.

No, you can’t go back, but here is a recording. As you can see in the first case, I start a new sketch on the same plane. In the second case, I edit the existing sketch.

Here’s the mirror problem. Won’t work most of the time and I don’t know why. I just randomly exit and click on sketches and sometimes it will work.

I can edit existing sketches it’s just really hard to get to them now.
