SketchUp-style Components and Groups

The problem that this feature will solve:

Implementing components and groups as they are utilized in SketchUp will make it easier to change multiples of objects, organize objects into meaningful groups and assemblies, and also potentially make the app more efficient, as the first object is the only “real” object, and all others are instances, reducing file space and also memory used.

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

This feature allows the user to more permanently group items and manipulate groups of items as an enhancement to the “Items” panel. It would also allow component assemblies to be named and searched, uploaded to a local or cloud-based component library. These components can also be assigned to layers and can be turned on and off. And most importantly, making changes to one component makes changes to all instances.

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

It limits the types of projects that I can use Shapr3D for. When I’m designing anything architectural, like wall assemblies, pergolas, furniture, I switch back to SketchUp because of this one feature. In Shapr3D, it’s difficult to separate objects because they are not grouped or components, and items seem stuck together.

Here’s an example of what I’m talking about…a tutorial about making a table with components: https://youtu.be/dYeZvghrEOw?si=YIc3ByW_kpXyzb2x

Don’t hold your breath. If it doesn’t involve drawings or visualization, it probably won’t be done for a long time.

They actually brought back Simple Transparent Material!!
