Split an edge

I’ve got an edge that i want to do a chamfer for only a portion of it, but am not sure hw to split it.

Ive attached a screenshot. The red loop is the edge I’m trying to split, and the blue arrow is roughly the portion where I want to keep it a straight edge, but every point up to there i want to have a chamfer.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hi just divide your face with a quick sketch, and extrude the parts separately. Chamfer the edges you want then use the Union tool to merge the bodies.

I did a short video that might help (click on link!)

Hi!

Thank you for the video, it was very helpful! I found that if I tried to use the extrude tool on both faces, it won’t work. The only way I could get it to work was to follow your steps exactly, which was to pull-to-extrude one face, and then use the extrude tool on the other face.

Attempting to use the extrude tool on both faces (or pull-to-extrude on both faces) resulted in the pieces joining up again!

Thank you very much!
