Stl to step file

I wanted to now if there is a way to export a imported stl to Step.
I tried but could not do it(probably because the stl is only for reference)
If there is a workaround please let me know

You can try to convert your STL to STEP prior to importing it to Shapr3d. I have had reasonable success with this web based tool:

If your model is too complex, it cannot do the conversion. Also, the conversion is not “smart” in that something like a fillet is presented as a myriad of triangles; nonetheless it can be useful.
