Subtraction tool

Hi everyone,

I want to cut a groove into the inside of a half pipe by using the subtraction tool. First I create the half pipe, then place a thin disk over it. In the next step I position the disk at the right height and want to subtract it from the pipe to create the groove. Unfortunately after finishing the subtraction process there still is the combined pipe and disk.

Any ideas?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

It seems you set the tool to keep the original bodies, if you change them to “none” or the specific one you want to keep, it should do the job.

I am having problems with this tool.

The hole for the bolt is much smaller after I print. but even on the drawing it appears so. any guidance??

Visually it might seem smaller because you are comparing with the boolean part.

You can confirm with the section view.

Note the gap on the left and right side, needed that for tolerance for my printer.
