I’m brand new to Shapr3D and trying to learn it and I’m already stuck.
I’m trying to draw an apartment in 3D from a floor plan I have, but I don’t know how to draw lines between two corners. As you can see from the attached view, I need to fill in the top of the window, but I can’t seem to draw lines between two corners (shown as blue dots in attached.
Select the top surface of your outer wall object and hit the sketch tool. You then should be able to snap the corners of your new rectangle to the corner points. Make sure “snap to” options are activated (the little magnet icon in the top right corner)
Thank you for your reply. I did this and it worked. (of course). Now I have a new problem. I want to complete the door opening, but when I try to draw the top part (solid), if I tap on a surface and then the sketch tool, I can’t draw on a back plane, only on the frontmost one. I’m attaching a screenshot. I want to draw what I show in red, but it draws what’s in yellow.
Related to this, are there videos or written guides specifically for drawing buildings with Shapr3D.
You can draw in any view you like. When you start a new sketch, it will automatically align your view to the sketch, but while sketching you can turn and move your view however you like.
To draw your yellow profile, you can select any surface parallel to where you want to sketch (like your door frame or the outer wall), then hit “plane - offset” and move that construction plane to where you want to draw your yellow profile. When done, select your new construction plane and hit sketch. You’ll then draw on that plane.
Honestly, just go through the basic tutorial videos shapr provides. They’re excellent, and whether you use it for architecture or any other design, the principles are the same. I don’t think you’ll do anything fundamentally different for architecture designs.
