Well, I fell in love with Shapr3D!
I work exclusively on my iPad Pro M4, and although some operations can take quite a while to calculate, I really enjoy working with the app.
There are a few things I still miss, especially a “Drop to Floor” or “Drop to Plane” option, and a turntable feature that would let me easily show my designs from all sides.
I have a 3D printer, and one of the things I really appreciate about Shapr3D is that the models I create import into my slicer without errors. That makes the whole process from designing to printing so much easier.
I also love the “Generate Image” feature and how easy it is to add colors and materials to my designs. It really helps me visualize the finished object before I print it.
Here are some of my first creations in Shapr3D. I’m still learning, but I’m really enjoying the process!
Nice vases!
A bit off topic maybe, but do you dry our filament before printing??? That would most likely eliminate those small “knobs” on the surface…
Also, using adaptive layer height could greatly improve the stair stepping on the top of the fins.
You might also want to have a look at this from CNC Kitchen Would allow you to “paint” the inside with small flowers/roses or something…
Thanks Jesper!
Those little knobs are actually the seams. I set the seam position to random because I didn’t like having one visible aligned seam running down the vase. So I don’t think drying the filament would make much difference there.
I did use Adaptive Layer Height on the purple vase, but I’m still figuring out how it works and how the slicer decides which layer heights to use. I didn’t see a huge difference, so I’ll have another look at that.
I’ll definitely watch the CNC Kitchen video as well. Thanks a lot for taking the time to share these tips!
