What is the point of all these constraint icons? Can I hide them?

These little square “buttons” with constraint icons are always in the way, and they don’t seem to do anything except turn blue when I click them, do they actually do anything, or just to show that there is a constraint? Also how can I remove them?

Have you tried disabling “Always Show Constraints” on the Constraint setting? This way, you won’t see the constraints until you hover over them.
You can also zoom into the sketch so that they are more spaced out.
