So, I finally got a 3d printer. Searched online for a good 3d software to use for creating things at home (not for business). I can’t remember how but I landed on Shapr3d. Great software and easy to learn. Two fun models later, the software is asking me to pay $200+/year to continue using it.
$200+ a software for something that is just a hobby is a no no. This meant searching for another software.
Came across AudoDesk fusion - free for personal use.
Why can’t you guy offer a free or a cheap version for personal use?
I have used as paid subscriber, unfortunately on un-employment benefits currently, Shapr for years and although I’ve had my quirks and questions many times it still is a program I find worth paying my subsription for. They rely on my and others funds so I guess they are on top of things as it seems to “stay in the loop”.
To have to log in frequently is a bit intimidating, it was not like that but as everyone is doing their best to change this world for the worst it seems I’m stuck with that.
Now, frequent updates is a never-ending occurence which leaves us hoping on a continuous basis but I guess we subscribers are believers.
The layout is not impressive and a lot could be improved, especially history and folder arrangement but I will give these guys a bit longer to prove themselves as they have a program I deem worthy, still.
In addition, let me say that if you think you can easily create one part after the other and “attach” you might be disappointed. History and folders is in my opinion just as far from what it should be. It can literally drive you nuts once you get “in motion”, mind you… it started out as a simpler modeler, which it might have been better off staying as.
I’ve used Fusion quite a bit but abandoned it for Shapr3D. Fusion is too bloated and resource hungry. It takes at least 30 seconds to start up on my M5 MacBook Pro whereas Shapr3D starts in a matter of a few seconds. Also, I have the option to use my iPad with no loss in capability; Fusion doesn’t have a fully featured mobile version.
