Will an upgrade in computer help in opening and dimensioning the files

Hello,

I currently toggle between Ipad Surface pro 13 & my Microsoft surface Pro to use Shapr3d for work. At the moment both is struggling to open a file from a client. It is a STEP file that is 626,904KB.

I need it to dimension the item on the dwg, so that we can custom make what we need to make based on the umbilical.

I can open it, but the moment when i try to add the item on the dwg, my shapr 3d spins around. My Ipad on the other hand just crash every single time as it is a big file.

My boss have agreed to upgrade my computer but i just want to make sure that an upgrade in RAM and memory card, can actually do what i need to do. And it is just not a Shapr3d issue where it is not capable of opening a big file.

Current surface pro specs are 128MB graphics card, 16G ram and

12 gen Intel i7. At the moment, everytime i open the shapr3d - my laptop is already using 82% memory which my colleuege says is not optimal.

Below is the screenshot of the item.

Thank you.

Don’t expect a big improvement. The problem with Shapr is that it’s a single-threaded app, which means only one processor core is involved in its execution.
