I’ve spent years with Shapr paid subscription, not just the last years or so. However coming in now again on my Windows unit I run into lots of problems I never came close to before. I mentioned long time ago about making a dependable product before going into materializations etc..

What happened? I can’t work w/ a product which I continously have to be afraid of.

P.s. One problem solved by closing History window.

The simple change is Very convenient and useful. I tried it yesterday and used it constantly to better visualize a critical detail of a design I’m developing.

I gotta be honest with you guys: I do not like this change!

Might be OK on macos with a big screen, but defiantly not on the ipad. It vaste premium space in the left toolbar, so now there is no longer room for even the move/rotate button in sketch. OR Union in 3D mode. (not even on a 12.9 inch)

I have said it before. The iPad version (where is all started) is a huge selling point for shapr3d, but the last few years, it seem so have been complete neglected. It’s like your gameplan is: “Make is for MacOS and if it also runs on ipad, then fine). I should be the other way around.

Please consider moving it to the right side toolbar.

And also merge the “construction mode” button, into the “make construction” button already on the right side. So it you press that, with nothing selected, it changes all the tool buttons.

Both of these still display on a 13” iPad… sorry. I understand the frustration.

The mode switch buttons should have a better consolidated control so that it takes up the least amount of space. The feature doesn’t seem fully baked since if you click on drawing you get yet another menu where you can select Modeling, Visualization, or a Drawing… that’s clunky.

12.9 or 13 inch. Same same, different PR name AFAIK

Can you share a screenshot of yours. Would love to see what’s different. Maybe there’s a setting I missed…

Update: Ok, so the very newest M5 ipad 13” has “2752-by-2064 resolution at 264 ppi”, where as all other version from M3 and back to A9 has “2732‑by‑2048 resolution at 264 ppi“ Hope it’s not those 20 pixels that makes or break it…

apple compare

Actually, I checked again and the move/rotate button in sketch only shows if isolation is off. Union is now showing in the more menu… I updated to iPadOS 26.1 just before I checked again so possibly it was something related to that. It is an M5 13”

Anyway, I agree that we need all of the real-estate possible so that the tools that we need often are reachable with one click. In solving one issue (switching between modeling/visualization/drawings), it has created another .

Envious

I take it you also have the pencil Pro then?? Did Shapr3D add any functionality for the new gestures?? Just the “hover” for tool labels would use full. Even after years of shapring, I still havn’t fully learned the icons, so I have to leave the labels on…. Again, wasting space.

Exactly. Fixing a minor annoyance created an even bigger… As more and more features come on, they should consider making a top tool bar.

Did Shapr3D add any functionality for the new gestures??

No. I hope they do. I’ve been using the Mac more lately because I don’t have an iPad keyboard for shortcuts. Better real estate control (customizable workspace) and contextual pencil pro control may tilt my favor back to the iPad.

But… I need speed in design and the highest gains for me would be assemblies. In fact the tool issues stand out so much more without assemblies because you have to use them so much more.

After updating for another umpteenth time my Windows and all problems I’ve had with my 3DConnexion Spacemouse it seems to have stopped annoying Shapr’s history. The dongle went for it and the USB-connection is what seemed to have caused it acting erratically.

I still have not upgraded w/ a new Ipad Pro and pen yet unfortunately. I consider Shapr3D a definite Ipad Pro app.

This is HORRIBLE on iPad. I use shapr3d mostly for 3d printing, I don’t need visualization and while I occasionally make drawings it’s not often enough to warrant an always there button. This update eats up so much valuable real estate. Why not have it as an option that can be toggled off in settings. That way those of us on a smaller screen like the iPad can have it the old way to save space, but those on a computer can get have it like this. Or better yet, let us customize our workspace.
