Can I create a ‘sketch’ from a ‘body’?

Hello all, I am new to this and am trying to create plans for an English wheel I will cut on my CNC plasma table.

I’m trying to ‘flatten’ everything into pieces and was wondering if there was a way to convert the highlighted section into a sketch that I can cut out of the same plate as the rest of the already flat pieces.

Hi, you can try projecting the selected faces to a construction plane as shown in the attached video.

Here’s a short video to help show some insight on positioning a construction plane:

I hope this is helpful

Thanks for the tips but I’m not getting the desired result with projecting onto a construction plane (or I’m doing it wrong). When I do it it is only giving me the top down sketch, not the ‘wrap’ around the back of the arc

I see what you mean. There are two seperate faces, you can select both faces, position the plane behind the body and then project.

However both faces can only be projected as flat sketches without the curve.
