Hey there, Shapr3D world!
Long time OnShape user here. I frequently design for custom 3D printing solutions in a professional setting. I’ve settled with OnShape because it simply works for me, but I don’t think it’s worth the price. So, I’m exploring other options. I’ve tried Shapr3D a number or times now, and was hoping for its parametric promise to have matured now. It appears it hasn’t, but perhaps my workflow is just wrong. Please find what I’m doing in the video below:
When changing the sketch, I expected the body to update accordingly when exiting the sketch. However, the subtracted region just disappeared. Do I need to re-subtract the sketch from the body every time I update the sketch? Or am I just doing something wrong? Forgive my ignorance if that is the case. In the Revolve, Subtract, and Mirror tutorial, it became clear to me that this may only be possible if a part of the sketch is changed, but not when something is added.
Another nuisance I experienced was when I’m viewing the model from the top-left-front corner, rotating left and right suddenly rotates the model view in a 2D-fashion, instead of moving approx. around the x-axis as expected. When resetting the view, it does rotate around the x-axis, but shortly after it starts swivelling again. Up and down, however, do always work as expected.
