Why can’t it be created like the graphics and curves in the video?

Hi,
Can you share your Shaper file ?
here is
pr base1.shapr (273.1 KB)
That is pretty odd, in the video they Chamfer 5mm Shapr can’t do 5mm, in your Shapr file its set at 4.5 if you change it to 5 it brakes the file.
So Chamfer in Shapr is not the same as Saladworks.
You don’t have to complete the tutorial to see that Shapr can’t accomplish this task.
Onshape and Solidworks is the same Shapr can’t chamfer more than 4.5mm
I know so I change some setting
it can do that but the shape not look like the same
if you look from top view, the corner have some twisted and strange lines.
Ya I saw your example and I was pointing out the cause of the difference which comes from the Chamfer.
Chamfer in Solidworks vs Shapr is different.
Solidworks, Shapr, Onshape and Siemens NX all use same Parasolid Kernel so I assumed they all do they same, each just wrapped in a different UI.
It’s interesting for me anyways and it looks like Chamfer in Solidworks and Onshape is the same. While Chamfer in Siemens NX and Shapr is the same.
If Chamfer is set at 4.5 for both NX and Shapr it looks the same but different from Solidowrks and Onshape.
Top is NX bottom is Shapr
I found that Nx can set the chamfer parameters to achieve the same effect as solidwork. I think shapr3d can do the same if they update the chamfer.
If you can achieve the same Chamfer in NX ya Shapr needs an update.
Here is another program Plasticity, all programs are based on Parasolid so should be able to get the same results?
can it fix ?
I found a workaround. You need to do a “fillet” with “curvature -1”. The key here is “size type” being “radius” vs. “chord width” in “fillet”. In “chamfer”, it seems the default is “chord width” and there is no option to change it to “radius”. “Chord width” gives you those unparallel lines. See pics.
However, it gets stuck here as the next step is to do “another fillet” with a radius of 5. It won’t let you do a new one.
That’s great catch and workaround!
RossiWu’s screenshot of the menu item at the bottom by Default APEX is selected and when I did as suggested Offset Face I got it looking the same with NX.
It’s strange but I could only get it to -.999 not full -1
Also next task in the original video is Filet the top again after Chamfer 5mm but that doesn’t work even after this workaround.
I had interest in making this work to compare if Shapr indeed is faster than the competition or if its just a feeling you have. I do believe if you can compare by time Shapr should be faster?
yeah I can only type in -0.999 too
We should ask Shapr3D to add the radius option to chamfer. Evidently, it doesn’t allow you to do a second fillet on the same edge. If we were able to do a radius chamfer first, we could do a 5mm fillet later.
