Why can't i create new sketch item?

How i can create new sketch items?

i already saw one forum use saying to create a new sketch plane offset by any amount.

that doesn’t work for me. I would like it to be on the same plane.

shapr3d is amazing at many things and very strange at others i wish i understood the logic.

You can create coplanar sketches with a workaround.

Create the first sketch.

Move the first sketch a known amount in a known direction (e.g. up 10mm).
Note: moving the sketch is a pain. You have to select the sketch (or already be in the sketch), exit the sketch, and then select the Move/Rotate action and move it with the gizmo. This is part of the reason why I dislike shapr going into sketch mode when selecting…

Create a second sketch on the plane that the first sketch was on. Make sure you create some geometry in the sketch otherwise it won’t actually persist the sketch when you exit (another thing I don’t like).

Now move the first sketch back to the original plane (select, exit, select move/rotate and move with gizmo).

Now you should have coplanar but independent sketches.

NOTE: sometimes you may get an empty sketch that you can’t left click on in the items window. I don’t know if this is by design or a bug but if that happens, just right click and delete it. I’m not exactly what sequence causes it but it appears to be harmless (just confusing) and easily correctable.

Thank you for your reply. while this may work, it is cumbersome I’m sure we agree. i like to work quick.

To the Shapr3d team. can we expect changes regarding this behavior ? or is it not on the map ?
