5.880 - Navigate faster, manage items better, track edits clearly

Is it a joke? no?
In the recent documentation concerning version 5.880, however, we can read : align the camera to a selected face
Nothing more is explained.

No jokes.

We all saw that and 3 different people already asked about that here.

Sorry.
But do we have an answer?
Thanks

There’s no response yet, waiting, but I strongly suspect that the feature doesn’t actually exist — either the text was poorly written, or it’s planned but not implemented yet.

OK Alex,
I thought the same thing but I found it a little big as a mistake

I read it as actually just repeating all the camera feature available now. Because doing the Select Face Space does exactly that plus Camera Fixed Increments was introduced in the last update 15/45 degrees not this one.

If we can change amount of camera rotation to users preference, would be more helpful than having 2 15/45 predefined increments.

Yes, all that is possible, also that there is a hidden gem we cant find. But as several user over time asks about an officail update and declaration of what is new, I think it would be nice with a official responce.

or
Right clic > Sketch on Face
but don’t find Sketch on Face in Help > Keyboard Shortcuts and we can’t change the shortcut

In Support ONLINE: Zoom to face Hover over a face and press the Space bar.

We had that feature for a long time (right click Sketch on Face), I think you are confused. Sketch on Face is same as Space Bar.

The new feature is Combo Shift & Spacebar.

What does Spacebar or Sketch on Face do? It Aligns to FACE Normal and the Faces fills the whole Viewport.

The New Combo Shift & Spacebar does not Zoom to fill the viewport its just Rotates to Align Normal to Viewport.

I wonder how this works on the iPad though, I can’t check Apple Pencil is Hiding or are we going to start needing Keyboard on the iPad even more now?

Indeed, there is a difference.

Thank you.
