5.880 - Navigate faster, manage items better, track edits clearly

Navigate your models faster, manage items with more precision, and track design changes more clearly with these latest improvements.

  • New: Use the command “Reveal in Items” to quickly find a selected face, body, or sketch even in a potentially long Items list.
  • New: Control the visibility of all items in the Items Manager with additional options to reveal hidden parts, or switch what’s visible and hidden.
  • New: Camera rotation now supports fixed increments, snapping to the nearest orthographic view, and aligning the view normal to a selected face for faster, more precise navigation during modeling and review.
  • Improved: Now you can assign variables to Pattern tool inputs such as quantity, distance, and angle for greater flexibility when building parametric relationships that update automatically.
  • Improved: Hovering over items in the Items Manager now highlights them in the modeling space, helping you quickly identify parts of your model.
  • Improved: The Project Versions dialog now shows who edited each version, with usernames displayed in both the list and detail views.

Now this is an update!

This is a true productivity and efficiency update! Just tried it and it will go a long way to improving workflow efficiency!

:red_exclamation_mark:Now just add the option to reverse the history tree with the latest addition automatically expanded for fast option adjustments and that will be a game changer!

Some really good updates Shaper3d Team. Do you see any major updates to the Drawing side of Shaper3D waiting patiently for some major improvements so I can use Shapr3D as my main software to create good drawings.

Thank you

Thank you :folded_hands: for the update.

Now I don’t have to label the elements very precisely and according to position

That’s an interesting point

What drawing feature do you miss most?

Here are a few:

  1. Let us draw lines

  2. Make labels automatic, pull the named part from 3D to automatically add to 2D drawing. When i put a note on a part, call it the part i named in the model.

  3. Fonts. Let us change the font size of dimensions and notes. If you use a big sheet size the text is way too small.

  4. Colors, Let us at least change the color of the dimensions and notes. A drawing with a bunch of lines the same color make it hard to differientate a dimension line from a part line.

  5. Let us move the arrow on the note. Sometimes i want to point it in a little diffferent spot than the default location.

  6. Let us dimension to a center of a line

Good update, but there’s still no support for text on a curve or wrapping sketches around a body.

I don’t know where to start.

  1. give more flexibility to be able to change the dimensioning to arrows in or out and be able to make the dimensions to be aligned to the dimension arrows. And also change text size and font of the dimensions.
  2. to be able to move the detail callout name to different locations not default on the view.
  3. to be able to add 2D lines or shapes when needed on drawings.
  4. to be able to change the cross hatching type and size and color.
  5. to be able to add GD&T to the drawing dimensions.
  6. to be able to add multiple leader lines to callouts.

I am sure there are other improvements that could be made to Shapr3D drawing side but these are very important things that need to be added for now.

Thank you

Great update!!

Let’s hope that the additions listed could be implemented soon so we don’t have to export our models to a different Cad software to finish our drawings correctly.

Thank you

It is important to know whether Shapr3D has only been developed for large industrial companies with automatic production. or also for smaller companies to medium-sized companies that do not have automatic production. Or do not process everything with CNC machines.

“align the camera to a selected face” sounds super useful! Can you share how to do this?

Some weeks back I wrote this
Crosspost:

…I can’t grasp the
function of:
New: Camera rotation now supports fixed increments, snapping to the
nearest orthographic view, and > aligning the view normal to a selected
face «< for faster, more precise navigation during modeling and review.
Could someone explain this interesting sounding feature (bit slow
today)….
May I also suggest an alt-shift-com-arrow for 1°

No feedback.

Thnx Alex, I got all that; Rotate by commando n & Nearest ortho.

Except that rotate buffers for me, crosspost:

MacOS M2 15.4.1 (24E263) S3D 5.880.0 (8949)
Rotating ‘stack up’ rotations until the workspace is klicked (occasionally letting commando key go).
5.870.0 (8930) worked different/fine.

no responce

just me?

So… still puzzled on what and how:

aligning the view normal to a selected face

As this obviously is described as something disparate to:

snapping to the nearest orthographic view

(Or, I did not cognize the great video demo, that is
