FHT - Female Garden Hose Threads

A few questions:

Does anyone have a female thread model for a garden hose cap with a barbed fitting ? I’ve found the specs for the threads, and there are plenty of stl files around, but of course I want to use my shapr3d so I can modify the other side of the FHT side. I would like to compare my dimensions from someone’s working model. I’m not going to moan about a thread tool, drawing threads using revolve isn’t bad at all. No one making tutorials ever seems to use any real world dimensions useful for 3D printing, for the gaps and such.

Also, is there a thingverse-style site where shapr3d is included along with the usual downloadable stl things?

That would be a great project for one of you guys. And frankly, it would be great for Shapr3d - the company too. Shapr3d could piggy-back along with the explosive growth of 3D printing and very likely become the standard for 3D printing.

I do metal plasma cnc, wood router cnc, which needs 2D files, and the dxf export never works very well for me. It’s probably me though.

I still think shapr3d is the best app for ipad and modeling, absolutely. Thanks shapr3d people.

I don’t think such a website exists. But as a web developer, I could create one if people really need it. So far, you’re the only person who has asked about it.

We could also create a parts catalog specifically for Shapr3D users. For Mac users, I could even develop a plugin-like app for Shapr3D that would search for parts on the website and automatically insert them into a project.

Of course, I wouldn’t do all of that for free, but if 100+ users were willing to spend €5–10 each, that would already be enough to get started.

Just an example of what I did for myself (native MacOS app working together with S3D)

No offense euro-pal - that’s not the way business works. If you build it, they will come.

If you have skills, they’re worthless without puting your skin in the game.

I think you should just wait for a hundred and ten users before you do anything. 3D printing is just starting, it will get much larger.

I’m a developer, not a businessman. For me, that’s simply how things work. I already have plenty of paid work lined up. If people don’t need this kind of resource, that’s perfectly fine — I don’t personally need something like that either, so I’m not going to build it for free.

Check GrabCAD.com. I’ve found thread objects for multiple thread types.

EDIT: Here’s a link to one. You’ll need to create an account to download.
