Option to export layers as individual files without ZIP compression

The problem that this feature will solve:

Currently, when exporting a design with the option “Save each layer as a separate file” enabled, Shapr3D automatically generates a ZIP archive. Inside this ZIP, there is usually another subfolder containing the actual files.

This creates a significant friction point in my workflow. Every time I export, I have to:

  1. Locate the ZIP file in my file manager.

  2. Manually extract it.

  3. Open the newly created folder.

  4. Move the files to where I actually need them.

  5. Delete the original ZIP and the empty subfolder to keep my workspace clean.

When working on complex projects with frequent iterations, these repetitive manual steps add up to a lot of wasted time.

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

I expect an option in the export dialog (e.g., a toggle or a “direct export” mode) that allows Shapr3D to save the individual layer files directly into a selected local folder.

The outcome should be: I select a destination folder, click export, and all files (STL, STEP, etc.) appear immediately in that folder without any ZIP compression or nested subfolders involved.

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

While it is not a complete “blocker,” it is a significant workflow efficiency killer. It slows me down every single day.

In a professional environment where I need to quickly push parts to a Slicer, CAM software, or a collaborator, the current ZIP-container approach feels like an unnecessary hurdle. Without this feature, Shapr3D feels less “seamless” than it could be compared to the rest of its excellent UI.
