Thread Tool

Some of us would probably pay for a script   PEC. Square thread (vice screws), plastic top threads etc

I haven’t used your gear generator script YET. I’ happily buy you a beer at the very least for it. Nice work!

Wow, this thread is still going strong after 2,5 years.. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Please add this feature. I can’t explain how necessary this is for most of the designs I want to do but it is a huge limitation.

I‘m around since 2019 and have requested a parametric thread-tool numerous times…

It‘s June 2025 and still no usable thread tool :frowning:

What is the problem in developing this module, that nearly all desktop CAD-programs have since ages?

Yes, I‘m a hobbyist, but I need printed, metric threads for prototyping before sending the final model to the tool shop…

The problem is that they’re concentrating on the visualization stuff at the expense of modeling tools.

Sad to see this feature request has gone on for years now with no response from the development team. Is it even on the roadmap for 2025, a possible few week to month sprint? Why not start small and offer the ability to select a cylinder and then offer a thread tool that one can enter integer or float values in order to create a thread? The use case is one of expediting a faster workflow rather than having to borrow models elsewhere and then to have to manipulate them to suit. Is this just a simple case of SAAS modeling where revenue is collected until such a time that a new feature may be worked on and that level of revenue has not yet been achieved to even bother improving the software? Sure there are other “free” alternatives out there but that’s not what I paid a subscription for, and would prefer to be able to use Shapr3D. At best if the development team is not willing or able to add this feature, include some standard models for making threads so your users can spend more time with the software rather than having to go between for a solution.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with the M6 mm McMaster screws, especially the fully threaded ones?

I just now downloaded 3 screws from McMasters- 2 steel and 1 nylon.
M6 x 10mm, M6 x 60mm and M6 x 40mm Nylon.
The short screw no problem. The longer one, same issue as yours.
The 40mm nylon screw no problem.
