Zooming Out - Please add Auto-Panning/Centering

Please follow the format below for requesting a feature.

The problem that this feature will solve:

The Zoom Out feature (using the scroll wheel) does not seem to take into account where on the screen the mouse is when performing the Zoom. As an example of how good Zoom Out functionality works, please take a look at KiCAD.

As you zoom out, depending on where the mouse is in relation to the screen, the view and model can be controlled and kind of “auto-panned” to where you want it to end up viewing.

Adding the Centering function to Zooming Out will Speed up navigation, as currently, the Zoom Out does no auto-panning and thus I seem to often Zoom out, then change buttons to Pan the view and then continue Zooming out.

Brief description of the outcomes that you expect from this feature:

The Zoom Out process is a lot more fluid if the program takes into account where the mouse is and where it has moved to during the roll of the mouse wheel. It is difficult to exactly explain how this is done, but I can say that KiCAD does it well.

What can’t you achieve without this feature?

Faster navigation around the model. Less strain on the fingers having to change buttons to Zoom, Pan, Zoom.

In another thread I think you asked if there are Shapr alternatives for Mac and Linux.

There is one Freecad, since you mentioned KiCad you might already know. Freecad and KiCad use same engine.

Freecad also has KiCad workbench.
